Meet the New Mazda CX-30 Available in Milford

Driving around the Milford area should never feel like a drag, and in the new Mazda CX-30, it will not. With all-wheel drive (AWD) now standard on every trim level and the cool Carbon Edition package available, there is no shortage of charisma. But exactly what can you expect to get from a particular trim level? Let's go over those options so that you can let us here at Mazda of Milford know which Mazda CX-30 you'd like to test-drive.

Trim Level Options

The new Mazda CX-30 comes in your choice of eight different trim levels:

  • 2.5 S
  • Select
  • Preferred
  • Carbon Edition
  • Premium
  • 2.5 Turbo
  • 2.5 Turbo Premium
  • 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus

There are some differences between these trim levels regarding power and features. The 2.5 S is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that musters up 186 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. However, if you go up to any Turbo trims, you will have a turbocharged (hence the name) 2.5-liter engine underneath the hood. With this engine equipped, the CX-30 gets 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque or, when using 93 octane fuel, 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque.

Powerful Performance

Let's talk about the power you get from either of the CX-30's engines. It is more than ample for cruising around Bridgeport and Fairfield. Even the base engine gives off better-than-average power for its class, reaching 60 miles per hour about a second faster than other extra-small crossovers. When you equip the turbo engine, that time gets shaved down to a mere 6.4 seconds.

The six-speed automatic transmission stays easy on fuel when left in default mode. But when Sport mode is engaged, be prepared for a more thrilling ride. The Premium trim adds paddle shifters for a further sense of sportiness.

Top-notch Technology

Mazda's technology comes in spades on any trim level you choose. Driving around New Haven feels much safer when you get the slew of standard driver aids offered by this automaker. The 2.5 S starts you off with forward collision mitigation, automatic high beam headlights, a drowsy driver monitoring system, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. A blind spot monitor gets added to the Select, and the Premium slaps on adaptive headlights, a traffic sign reader, and a head-up display that projects vehicle info onto the windshield in front of your eyes. The 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus gives the vehicle traffic jam assist, a surround-view camera system, rear cross-traffic with automatic braking, and parking sensors on the front and rear of the CX-30.

Infotainment technology spans all trim levels in abundance, too. The 2.5 S offers an 8.8-inch infotainment display, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and an eight-speaker sound system. Upgrading to the Premium tacks on an integrated navigation system, SiriusXM Satellite Radio compatibility, and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system that offers high-quality sound with just the right amount of bass. A trial period for the mobile WiFi hotspot also comes with the CX-30. Hooking your devices up is made simple with up to two USB ports, two 12-volt power outlets up front, and a couple of charge-only USB ports in the rear. The Mazda CX-30's technology makes getting around the Hamden area much easier.
